Jawline Firming and Tightening
As we get older we lose more facial fat. When cheek volume is lost the skin is pulled downward, manifested in wrinkles, a drooping jaw or a double chin. A sagging jawline creates a tired, older look and significantly affects the appearance of your face. Using minimally invasive radio waves (RF waves) different layers of the facial skin can be treated without the need for surgery. During treatment the collagen is heated to a certain temperature, causing the existing collagen fibers to tighten and encouraging collagen cells in the particular area to produce more collagen. The heating causes the skin to tighten due to the immediate contraction of the collagen fibers, and also to produce new collagen.
How is the treatment performed?
The treatment is performed under local anesthesia and is relatively quick, taking about 45 minutes. During the treatment needles are inserted into the dermis tissue, and controlled energy through RF waves that heat the dermis to 67 degrees is applied to deep layers of the skin and to subcutaneous fat. The heat tightens the skin, shrinks the fat and begins a process of building new connective tissue. New collagen and elastin cells will be produced, resulting in a firmer jawline and smoother skin. After treatment the neck will be worn for three days to enable the skin to heal.
What to expect after treatment?
Since treatment is performed without surgical intervention it does not leave any scars and recovery time is relatively short. You can resume your normal routine and activity immediately after treatment. Some patients may have hemorrhages or edema lasting two to three weeks. Improved appearance of the jawline is immediately visible, however because the tissue building process continues over time, the end result is expected to be seen within six months to a year.
