Post-acne / Fibrotic scar treatment
Scars, whether caused by acne, surgery or other trauma, are evidence of skin that has been damaged and grown back irregularly. They may affect not only the texture of your skin and your appearance, but also have a significant impact on your self-confidence. These scars are permanent and do not disappear on their own, meaning that in order to get rid of them they must be treated. Fortunately, two methods are available that effectively treat scars, and significantly and permanently improve scarring.
How is the treatment performed?
The treatment method is determined depending on the condition of the skin and the age of the scar to be treated. If there is extensive redness and no skin irritation, treatment will be performed with a gentle, selective laser procedure that destroys the blood vessels without damaging the surrounding tissue. This method requires one to three treatments.
If you have an irregular texture scar (with or without redness) with deeper acne scars, we recommend a treatment that enables your doctor to adjust laser beam intensity and how it is dispersed over the tissue. First a mildew lotion will be applied to the treated area, and during treatment you will likely feel warmth but not pain. By creating a deliberate and precise burn we encourage the body to produce new collagen and elastin cells, which renew the skin and give it a homogeneous appearance. This method requires three to five treatments.
What to expect after treatment?
After treatment it is expected that the feeling of heat will increase and cold will be applied to the treated area. In the first few days after treatment the skin may peel or itch, depending on how aggressive the treatment.
