Rhinoplasty (nose job)
Your feelings when you see your reflection in the mirror can significantly affect your self-confidence, and therefore your life. If your nose is not proportionate to your face this no longer has to bother you. Rhinoplasty is designed to smooth and straighten your nose so that it complements your facial features to create aesthetic harmony. Respiratory defects caused by structural defects in the nose can also be corrected by treating the nose and shells. Rhinoplasty is the most intricate and complex plastic surgery procedure, since there are no identical noses, and no nose will need exactly the same procedure.
How is rhinoplasty performed?
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and takes about one to two hours. During the surgery incisions are concealed inside the nose, through which the skin covering the nasal bones and the cartilage is gently raised, providing access needed to reshape the nasal structure. After the basic nasal structure is sculpted to the desired shape, the surgeon stretches the skin and the nasal tissue and closes the incisions.
What to expect after surgery?
A week after surgery the brace will be removed from your nose, but at this stage you still cannot see the shape of the new nose due to swelling. The initial swelling subsides significantly after a month or two, but it will take several more months before it disappears completely. This is a slow healing process during which gradual changes in the appearance of the nose will occur until it reaches its final shape, usually up to a year after surgery.
